Requesting a Debug Certificate

A digital certificate configures signing information for a HarmonyOS app or atomic service. It is used to ensure software code integrity and identity authenticity of the person that releases the app or atomic service. The certificate file is in .cer format and contains information such as the public key and certificate fingerprint (digest).

Certificates are classified into debug certificates and release certificates based on application scenarios.

  • Debug certificate: used for debugging an app or atomic service. If only one debugging device is required and automatic signing is supported, you are advised to use automatic signing provided by DevEco Studio. In this case, you do not need to obtain a debug certificate. If you use multiple debugging devices or perform debugging when the network is disconnected, then manual signing is needed. In this case, you need to request a debug certificate and download it.
  • Release certificate: used for releasing an app or atomic service. To release an app or atomic service on AppGallery, you need to request a release certificate and download it, which will be used for packaging.
NOTE

Each account can request up to three debug certificates.

  4. After the certificate request is approved, check information like the certificate name on the Certificates page. Click Download to save the generated certificate to the local device for subsequent signing and debugging.

    NOTICE
    • A certificate becomes valid once it is successfully requested. Currently, for a developer who has completed identity verification, the debug certificate is valid for one year. For a developer who has not completed identity verification, the debug certificate is valid for 14 days.
    • If the certificate becomes invalid or is revoked, it will no longer be available, and all profiles requested using the certificate will also become invalid or revoked. In this case, you need to request a new certificate and profile.
    • A revoked certificate cannot be restored and all profiles requested using the certificate will become invalid. Exercise caution when performing this operation.
