App Review FAQs

[Q1] How long does it take for AppGallery to review an app release?

App review generally takes 3-5 working days. If your app fails to pass the review, we will notify you by email for you to improve it and submit it for review again.
If your app needs to be released before a specific time due to marketing purposes or other reasons, schedule your app release in advance, so you can have sufficient time for app review and possible modifications.

[Q2] What are the common issues of app information?

App information, including the app name, icon, introduction (including the brief introduction and new features), screenshots, videos, app category, language, content rating, developer information, and privacy information (such as the privacy policy and permission description).

Examples of common issues of app information:
1) The app name, introduction, screenshots, or other information that you provided for review is different from your actual app content.
2) Your app name comprises of generic, common, or non-recognizable term, or a hot search keyword that may mislead users during app search, for example, "Kit", "Tool", and "Action game".
3) The use of other brands or apps in the app name, introductions, screenshots and other information has not been authorized in advance.
For details, please refer to AppGallery Review Guidelines - Chapter 1. App Information.

[Q3] Are there any language requirements for releasing an app?

The app information (including the app name, icon, introductions, screenshots, and videos) should be localized in the language of each supported country or region. If localization is not available, provide at least the English version of such information.

[Q4] What are the security issues that AppGallery does not allow apps to have?

For details about common violations and precautions in app security, please refer to AppGallery Review Guidelines - Chapter 2. App Security.

[Q5] What are the common functional issues of apps?

For any functional issues in your app, please check the review comments and make modifications.

The common functional issues that may lead to app rejection are as follows:
1) The app has issues such as crashes, launch with a blank screen, launch failure, or incomplete UI display.
2) An app function module does not respond and crashes during running.
3) The app does not work properly in a release country or region.
4) The app functions are not complete, that some modules have no content, or the app shows test data.
5) An update reminder appears in your app and the app becomes unavailable when a user rejects the update.
6) The app provides only simple content or simple features, for example, template apps and basic tools for device OS.
For details, please refer to AppGallery Review Guidelines - Chapter 3. App Functions.

If you have any questions, please submit a ticket online (select Distribute Apps > AppGallery).

[Q6] Why are apps rejected for similar functionality or content?

1) The app is of the same type as another app, and provides main functions or a UI the same as or similar to the other app. To provide a better user experience, please avoid continuing to develop an app under an already saturated app category.
2) The app's name, icon, content, appearance, or other contents is similar to that of an app developed by another developer. In this case, modify the app name, icon, appearance, and content, or provide relevant authorization or proof of trademark ownership. If you are an authorized third party, please ensure that the authorizer themselves do not release apps with similar names, icons, appearances, and content.
3) If these similar apps are all developed by you, but for different countries or regions, please use the multi-region release feature of AppGallery Connect, so users will not be confused.
If you find any app or content released on AppGallery that infringes upon your legal rights and interests, you can file a complaint. For details, please refer to Guidelines for Handling HUAWEI AppGallery Infringement Complaints
.

Copyright qualification files that conform to applicable laws and regulations shall be provided for games and other apps. [Q10] My app contains payment items, but has not provided customer service contact information. How should I modify it?

You should clearly mark the valid customer service contact information, including the online customer service function and customer service contact phone number or email address, at a prominent position in the app, for example, on the app home page or product detail page.

Please note that the contact information that is contained only within a link in the app, such as in a privacy policy or user agreement, would be too covert to be found.

[Q11] In what situations will all apps and games of a developer be permanently removed, the developer’s account be frozen, and relevant services be terminated?

Common scenarios where all apps and games of a developer are permanently removed, the developer’s account is frozen, and relevant services are terminated are as follows:
1) The app involves pornography, gambling, and drugs, politically sensitive information, inappropriate publicity, and other content prohibited by laws, such as illegal fundraising, illegal crowdfunding, fraud, pyramid schemes, and forgery/alteration/sale of official documents/certificates/seals of state organs.
2) The violation content is closed or concealed when the app is submitted for review but enabled or displayed by technical means after the app is released.
3) Malicious infringements of the apps under the developer’s account have reached three times.
4) The developer’s company enterprise failed to provide valid enterprise business qualifications or valid authentication information.

[Q12] Why are some apps not searchable in some countries/regions after they are released?

Apps released in different countries/regions need to comply with local laws and regulations and respect local religious beliefs and customs. If you are a developer based in the EU and you offer goods or services to consumers located in the EU, the EU P2B Regulation will be applicable. Therefore, when we identify a reason that requires an app removal, we'll notify you with 30 days prior to the removal of your app, explaining the reasons that lead to your app removal, except the cases when:
1) Your app is in breach of the legal requirements (for example, illegal content and copyright infringements) and the 30-day waiting term is not feasible, or we're required by a legal or regulatory obligation not to disclose the reasons.
2) You have repeatedly breached our policies and the HUAWEI AppGallery agreements you have adhered to.
You may also apply to resolve a dispute with AppGallery through mediation, as per the process described in our Complaints Procedure. For details, please visit Submit a ticket online
and go to Other > P2B Regulation.
