FAQs

What should I do if an empty body is returned after calling the authorized data query API when there is data on the Huawei Health app?

  • Check whether the API fails to be executed and check the result code.
  • Make sure the version of the Huawei Health app in use is:
    • Huawei phone: 11.0.0.512 or later
    • Non-Huawei Android phone: 11.0.1.512 or later
    • iPhone: 8.0.44.301 or later
  • Call related APIs to check whether the Huawei Health app has been authorized to open data to Health Service Kit. If it has not been authorized, instruct the user to grant the authorization.
    • Android users: Open the Huawei Health app, go to Me > Privacy management, and toggle on HUAWEI Health Kit.
    • iPhone users: Open the Huawei Health app, go to Me > Third party services > HUAWEI Health Kit, and touch LINK.
  • Prompt users to synchronize data to the cloud manually by going to Me > Settings > Sync data manually in Huawei Health and touching the SYNC button.
  • Prompt users to enable all features under DATA SYNCING MANAGEMENT for synchronizing data to the cloud by going to Me > Privacy management in Huawei Health.
  • Ensure that the phone has an Internet connection, and that the app is allowed to use the mobile data or Wi-Fi network. A phone manager or assistant app on the phone may restrict the app from accessing the Internet.

  • If the issue persists, please contact the Huawei contact person for assistance.

The query results do not match what has been written, after writing multiple data with overlapping time intervals. Why is that?

For data with overlapping time intervals, the data layer will process them using certain service logic. If there are considerable discrepancies between the query results and written data, please contact the Huawei contact person for assistance.

Do different third-party apps integrated with Health Service Kit share the same data? Will CRUD operations on one app affect the rest of the apps?

  1. Data query on the device: Data generated by different apps is isolated and stored on the device, and converged computing will be performed on the data. Third-party apps can query their own data and the converged data.
  2. Data addition, deletion, and modification on the device: Third-party apps can perform such operations only on their own data, without affecting data of other apps. However, the operations will affect the converged data.
  3. CRUD operations on the cloud: Data generated by different third-party apps is automatically synced to the Health Service Kit server for isolated storage on a scheduled basis. The server performs reduction operation on the data to generate converged data for the account. Different device-side apps can then query the converged data after being authorized by the user.
  4. The data repositories of the Health Service Kit device and cloud ends are data processors, and the third-party apps based on Health Service Kit are data controllers.

What should I do if a file fails to be uploaded when I apply for Health Service Kit scopes?

  • Restrictions on Excel files
  1. Only .xlsx files are supported, and the file name cannot contain the following characters: @ / \\ # $ % & : * < > | ? \
  2. The file cannot contain attachments in formats other than images, such as PDF and Word. Otherwise, the file will fail to be uploaded.
  3. The cell cannot be a hyphen (-), plus sign (+), equal sign (=), or at sign (@), and cannot start with the preceding characters.
  4. The file size is limited to 10 MB. The number of sheets cannot exceed 100, with a maximum of 100 rows and 100 columns per worksheet.
  5. For security reasons, the uploaded file cannot contain embedded images or formulas.

  • Restrictions on ZIP files
  1. Only PNG, MP4, JPG, XLSX, APK, and DOCX files can be compressed.
  2. The file size cannot exceed 100 MB.

  • Restrictions on video files
  1. The file name extension must be mp4 (lowercase).
  2. The file size cannot exceed 100 MB.

What can I do if no data is found when I query the step count details?

Open the Huawei Health app, touch the step count card on the home screen to view the step details. You can query data by date.

  • If step count at different segments of a date is displayed, go to Me > Settings > Sync data manually to manually synchronize data to the cloud. Meanwhile, go to Me > Privacy management and enable all features under DATA SYNCING MANAGEMENT. Then, try to query the data again. If the issue persists, please contact the Huawei contact person for assistance.
  • If no data is found for a specific segment of a date, but you confirm that step data is generated on your phone at that time, submit your feedback by going to Me > Problems and suggestions. For example, you can describe the issue like this: Step data is generated on my phone at a certain time of a day, but no such data is displayed on the step details screen of Huawei Health. Huawei Health personnel will track the issue.

What can I do if no data is found or data is not displayed in a timely manner?

Data timeliness is subject to actual usage, and cannot be ensured if the wearable device is not connected to the phone via Bluetooth, the phone has no network connection, or Huawei Health is not set as a protected background app.

Solution:

  • Make sure that your wearable device is connected to your phone over Bluetooth.
  • Make sure that your phone has a good Internet connection.
  • For non-Huawei phones, set Huawei Health as a protected background app. For details, please refer to #EN-US_TOPIC_0000002516359208/section1844923113719.
  • If the issue persists, open the Huawei Health app and swipe down on the home screen to synchronize data manually. If you have multiple devices and no real-time data is displayed when you sync data manually from one of the devices, check whether the Huawei Health app is connected to the device in question.
  • To query data before user authorization, check whether you have applied for the scope to read historical data. For details about how to read historical data, please refer to Reading Historical Data (for REST)/Reading Historical Data (for Android).
